Queensryche Vocalist Todd LaTorre Selling Drummer Scott Rockenfield’s Drumsticks Because, Well, He’s Broke.

Queensryche has certainly seen its share of shifts in the plates of their foundation.  First, guitarist Chris DeGarmo departed the band in 2003 after their album Tribe, then vocalist Geoff Tate parted ways to form his own version of Queensryche while three remaining members (Scott Rockenfield – Drums, Michael Wilton – Guitar, and Eddie Jackson – Bass) recruited somewhat Geoff Tate sound-alike Todd LaTorre on vocals.  The band originally was going under the moniker Rising West but after discovering that no promoters would touch them with a 10ft pole, they reverted back to Queensryche resulting in a lengthy court battle which had Queensryche and Geoff Tate settling out of court.  Drummer Scott Rockenfield left the band in 2017 citing personal reasons.

Fast forward to 2021 and there seems to be trouble in the Queensryche camp.  Evidently, things aren’t going so well since vocalist Todd La Torre has dipped into their former drummer’s stash of sticks and is selling them online for income.  Going by the username of Titgear (yes, TLTGEAR), La Torre has listed ONE of FOUR pairs of drumsticks belonging to Scott Rockenfield.  The listing says:

“This pair of drums sticks are one of four remaining pairs that were played for the drum recordings of the 2013 self-titled Queensryche album, performed at London Bridge Studios in Washington. After drum recordings were completed, Scott gave me these sticks, to which I went to the studio kitchen to roll them up in saran wrap. They have been in my closet ever since. These are Regal Tip 5B “X” series with Scott Rockenfield signature and Queensryche logo printed in the sticks. Own a piece of history!! Condition: Sticks are worn due to recording. These are the real deal that recorded the album. Did you notice that Titgear can’t even spell “drumsticks” correctly?  Hilarious.  Anyway, Rockenfield didn’t take too kindly to this and let it be known via his personal Facebook Page:

I’m sure TLTGEAR is going to make some cash off of this since, as of now, he’s getting close to $300 a pair for these sticks.   I can’t blame Scott for this because it really has nothing to do with the money.  It’s just a tasteless cash grab by a guy who is a 2nd rate version of the singer he replaced.  The next stop for La Torre might be a gig pulling fries at White Castle.
