Leave it to Swedish psych rockers Nephila to slide in close to the end of the year and drop the best single of 2025, and that is a hill I will proudly die on. The new single for “Clavata” comes from Nephila’s mind-blowing set from this year’s Sweden Rock Festival, where they crushed it in front of 4,000+ maniacs. While “Clavata” is an older song from their 2021 self-titled debut, this version of the song is on a whole other level. The addition of new co-lead vocalist Linn Edlund has injected so much fire and energy that they sound like a different band, in the best way. The chemistry between Linn and other co-vocalist/founding member Josephine Asker is off the charts, and I’m here for it. I loved Nephila before, but now, they’re in the top tier of my favorite bands’ list.
While “Clavata” is absolutely stellar, I would give the middle finger off of my right hand to hear this entire set on vinyl. I guess I’d better be careful of what I wish for. The Sweden Rock Festival set was the best show of 2025 that I didn’t get to see, and I’ve rarely been so bummed to have missed a show. Nephila may be the reason that I finally board a plane bound for Sweden and get my face melted in person. Besides, vocalist Linn Edlund said I could crash in a tent in her backyard. Hopefully it won’t rain.
Check out the single for “Clavata” here, and while you’re here, check out Nephila’s set from Sweden Rock, and you’ll understand my love for this band. You may share in the love yourself.
