Jason Thompson of Atlanta Metal Band Black Candle Releases Spoken Word Piece, “My 1st Grave.”

Jason Thompson of Atlanta metal band Black Candle is an artist that has begun to catch my attention.  Jason is a fantastic songwriter but is also a very creative person when it comes to trying things outside of the box.  Jason recently recorded a spoken word piece called “My 1st Grave” which I really enjoyed.  I was really intrigued by the lyrics and I had to ask Jason a bit about this piece.

“My writing influences for lyrics are Edgar Allan Poe, Slayer, Venom and King Diamond. My 1st Grave was my personal metal head way to write about Necrophilia like Slayer did on Hell Awaits with the song “Necrophiliac.” I wanted to write lyrics just as evil as they did so I came up with My 1st Grave and I think I matched them in evil. To this day I still believe that Hell Awaits is one of the most evil metal albums to ever happen.”
I asked Thompson what he hoped the listener would get from “My 1st Grave.”  My stage name in Black Candle is The Preachers Son. This song is the true story of my origin.  My hope for people who enjoy “My 1st Grave” is that they see that obsession goes beyond the grave and also that they feel creeped out <laughs.>
