Grim Reaper’s Self-Titled Debut Turns 36 Today

36 years ago on this very day, NWOBHM legends Grim Reaper released their debut album See You in Hell on RCA Records. See You in Hell is what I consider to be one of the greatest debut albums from a Metal band of all time.  Lead vocalist Steve Grimmett’s distinct, powerful, and over the top vocals combined with the maximum riffage (yes, I said that) of guitarist Nick Bowcott created a Metal masterpiece that stands the test of time and sounds as good if not better than it did 36 years ago.

30+ years later, the sound and even image of Grim Reaper can be seen and heard in bands such as Savage Master from Kentucky, Holy Grail from California, and Enforcer from Sweden.  The Grim Reaper sound still continues to inspire and influence new generations of musicians and it shows no sign of slowing down or stopping any time soon.  See You in Hell has aged gracefully, loudly, and heavily and more so than many of their peers.

Happy Birthday See You in Hell.  36 looks good on ya!
