Swedish psych/blues rockers Siena Root have announced that their next album The Secret of Our Time will be released on March 20th. The Secret of Our Time is Siena Root’s 9th release since the band first came together in the late ’90s. Siena Root’s concept from early on was to act as a musical collective featuring a revolving cast some of the most talented musicians in Sweden. 2020 proves to be no different as Siena Root returns with yet another collective of musicians joining long-time members Sam Riffer (bass), Love Forsbert (percussion), Erik Pettersson (organ), and Matte Gustavsson (guitar.)
As usual, Siena Root is a mystery to me. Being all the way here in Atlanta, GA, I don’t have the privilege of getting to see Siena Root and to be in on their lineup changes and additions. Siena Root released a single in December to tease the album called “When a Fool Wears the Crown” and then recently released a trailer for a new video for the song “Organic Intelligence.” This video features a second female vocalist who has brought an amazing dynamic in addition to the stellar vocals of Lisa Lystam.
Hopefully I will have Siena Root on my podcast at some point to answer the million questions I have about this band but for now, dig on these awesome new tracks. If these are any indication of what the album will be like, this very well may be a contender for Album of the Year.
