Anthrax To Headline 2013 Metal Alliance Tour & Perform “Among the Living” In It’s Entirety

Metal-Alliance-3-with-sponsors-300x196Looks like Anthrax is joining the ranks of metal acts performing a classic album in it’s entirety. We’ve seen Iron Maiden do A Matter of Life and Death, Slayer did Seasons in the Abyss and Megadeth did both Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction. As the headliners of the 2013 Metal Alliance Tour, Anthrax will be performing Among The Living in it’s entirety. If that wasn’t enough to metal your face clean off of your head, it was also announced that opening the shows would be Brainfart favorites Municipal Waste, Holy Grail, and the legendary Exodus in the direct support slot.

Aside from the fact that I’m completely pissed that they snubbed Atlanta on this tour, I think that this tour has “tour of the year” potential. Matter of fact, this tour would be totally worth driving out to Charlotte to catch a show. While I would love to see Anthrax do Among the Living in its entirety, it’s not my first or main choice of albums I’d love to see them do. Now if they were doing Persistence of Time, I would absolutely lose my shit. As for Among the Living, they pretty much do nearly the entire album as it is sans 3 or 4 songs but it will be really cool to hear them do some rare gems like “A Skeleton in the Closet” and “Imitation of Life.”

Having Municipal Waste, Holy Grail, Exodus on this bill just makes it all the more sweet and if you’re smart, you will be there before doors open and secure your place up front for one of the most exciting tour line ups I have seen in quite some time. It’s great to see Anthrax putting together such a fun and exciting bill. Based on the confirmed dates, it looks like they’re playing a bunch of dive like venues which is a surprise to me but I think will add to the excitement of it all nonetheless.
