Metal Mix Disc Vol. 1 – Intro To Iron Maiden

Recently a good friend of mine and I were chatting and we got to talking about bands that we both really love. I started going on about Iron Maiden and it turned out that she had never really listened to Iron Maiden and didn’t know much about them. I told her we needed fix that and she says, “Make me a mix!” Oh my word. Where does one start to get someone started on Iron Maiden?

This was a challenge without a doubt because of course, I could think of no less than 20 songs that she MUST be listening to but the challenge presented to me to keep it to ONE CD seemed nearly impossible. Forget including “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” as not only is that song way long, I just don’t think that is a song that a Maiden virgin could grasp. The songs had to encapsulate not just what is great about Iron Maiden but they had to be songs that are easy to take in. She had already heard the “hits” like “Run To The Hills” and “Number of the Beast” so at least I could keep it interesting with some deep cuts. I personally think that this is a great Intro To Iron Maiden for anyone. If you have a friend that has never heard Maiden, consider this as his or her “Iron Maiden 101.”
