Rock Icons The Black Crowes Releases Pound of Feathers on March 13, 2026

Atlanta rock icons The Black Crowes announced that they will be releasing their 11th album, Pound Of Feathers, due out March 13 via Silver Arrow Records. Produced by Jay Joyce, the new album pushes The Black Crowes’ iconic blend of blues, soul, and rock into electrifying new terrain. With a career spanning four decades, the band’s upcoming release stands as a towering testament to their enduring artistic fire and significance in rock and roll.

The Crowes released not one but two new singles from the album, “Profane Prophecy” and “Pharmacy Chronicles” (videos at the end of the article).

A Pound of Feathers is way more of a throwback to the Shake Your Moneymaker and Southern Harmony & Musical Companion era of the Black Crowes.  The songs (the two I’ve heard so far) sound so much more honest and natural than the entirety of their last album, The Happiness Bastards.  This is definitely the best I’ve heard the Crowes since their Amorica album, and that’s saying a lot from this cranky journalist.

Chris Robinson’s prolific lyrical writing style revisits an era of the Black Crowes that feels much more familiar and like home, and this is something I think Black Crowes fans, long-time fans, and now doubters (like me) will connect with and/or reconnect with.  Kind of like an old family member or friend that you’ve been distant from for a long time, but buried the hatchet, shared a joint or three, and reminisced about the past and planned the future.

Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson said, “We made this record in eight to ten days, bringing the high and inspiration from ‘Happiness Is a Warm Gun’ into this album; it was a natural progression.” We experimented more, we wrote on instinct, and how we were feeling in the moment. Guitarist/Robinson brother Rich Robinson brought a spontaneity to the record that I can’t describe, but it’s the best shit he’s ever done.”

Rich adds, “This album feels transformative to us. Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio and how we work together. Lighting a fire that hits harder, more jagged but is still true to our musical essence.”
