Sarah McLachlan to Celebrate 30 Years of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy with 2024 Summer Tour

2024 will mark the 30th anniversary of Sarah McLachlan’s groundbreaking album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.  Released in the US on February 15, 1994, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was the album that put Sarah McLachlan on the map.  With songs such as “Good Enough,” “Hold On,” and her breakthrough hit, “Possession,” Sarah McLachlan soon found herself connecting with a whole generation and showing that a female artist could be every bit as intense, edgy, and daring as any “man” could be.  I mean, her song “Possession” was written from the perspective of a man who stalked her.  That’s some hardcore shit.

Anyways, I’ve been a fan of Sarah’s since I first heard Fumbling Towards Ecstasy in 1994.  I was a huge fan.  Back then I was playing bass guitar in a heavy metal band, and we had a gig the same night that Sarah McLachlan was playing at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA on her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy tour.  I literally got to the venue where we were playing, set my shit up, did soundcheck, got in my car, and booked ass across town just in time to see Sarah take the stage opening the show with “Plenty.”  I was so in awe and so moved that it became one of the things that started to make me re-think my artistic direction.

So here we are, 30 years later, looking to celebrate the release of my most cherished Sarah McLachlan album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.  The 30-date “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary Tour” will see McLachlan playing the album in its entirety and kicks off in Seattle on May 25th.  McLachlan had this to say about the tour:

“I think it’s interesting as an artist or as a human for that matter, to be able to go back and look at a postcard of a time in your life and reflect on it,” said McLachlan in a statement. “I think this tour is going to be a real walk down memory lane for me, and I’m hoping that my audience, many of whom have been with me for 30 years, will also be able to go back in time with me.”

A Live Nation pre-sale will begin on Thursday, December 14th (use access code CREW) ahead of the general on-sale slated for Friday, December 15th via Ticketmaster.
