Swedish Psych/Roots Rockers Siena Root Return With New Single “Little Burden.” New Album REVELATION Lands on Augusts 19th!

Swedish Psych/Roots Rock veterans Siena Root have returned with a new single called “Little Burden.” “Little Burden” is the first single from the forthcoming album Revelation which will be released on August 19th on Metalville Records. Their previous album, The Secret of Our Time featured after 2020’s was a blues-infused buffet that saw Siena Root side stepping a bit from their more eclectic, folk, and at times Eastern melodies. While it was an unexpected (and much welcomed) change, once again Siena Root has dipped back into what they do best with a more organic, folk, psychedelic roots vibe as captured on “Little Burden.”

“This is a first taste of Siena Root’s journey when introducing the more acoustic side of the Dynamic Root Rock Experience,” says the band. “The song deals with leaving the city and the experiences that come with that. ‘Little Burden’ is a song that describes the feeling of melancholy and battle one experiences when faced with the arbitrary issues of man and when burdens, however small and inconsequential, make you weary and sometimes even poisons you.”

In 20 years of band history, Siena Root have constantly worked on something new, changed their approach, and experimented a lot.  This line-up of Siena Root just may be my favorite since the earlier days of vocalist Sonja who was held in very hi regard.  With Zubaida Solid at the mic, Love Forsberg (drums), Johan Borgstrom (guitar), and Sam Riffer (bass), Siena Root has found some new yet familiar ground.  As much as I have appreciated the “revolving door” style of being that has kept Siena Root going for so long, I’d love to see the door kept in place a little while longer.  I feel like we are only getting a small glimpse of just what this line-up is capable of.
