The brutal and senseless attack on the Ukraine Uber the leadership of tyrant Vladimir Putin has dominated the news all over the world. In these dark times, people everywhere have been standing in solidarity with Ukraine.
While the many of the people of Russia may not side with Putin and just hateful display of power, they are being forced to suffer in many ways including bands Russian performances being cancelled.
Swedish/German psych/roots rockers Lucifer announced the cancellation of their two Russian tour stops for March 18th in St. Petersburg and March 18th in Moscow. The band had this to say via their official Facebook page:
The absolute nightmare is happening. When the nations of the world should be focused on the most urgent tragedy, the climate crisis of this planet, this mentally ill dictator throws the world into the utter chaos of war. Our hearts are breaking for the suffering of the Ukrainians and we stand with them!
Our hearts are also heavy for the Russian people who suffer under their regime and I hope they find the strength to stand up against this criminal. This war must stop immediately and justice must be served.
We had gotten our Russian visas and were debating for weeks if we should still play. I said “As long as no bombs are flying and no one is dying, we will go to Russia because music is the great connector and communicator and because most Russians are opposed to Putin’s actions”. But the unthinkable has happened and it goes without saying that our two Russian dates were immediately cancelled. Tickets can be returned at point of purchase.
NO MORE WAR PIGS! ??

Much love and peace goes out to the people of the Ukraine. War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.
