I didn’t see this festival coming from a mile away but goddamn if this doesn’t look like a fucking good time. Rocklanta 2019 is the first of this kind here in Atlanta. Picture it as a ProgPower with bands that you actually heard of that that don’t suck! Here’s the official line up as of now:

Now honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this actual line up as far as order because, being the opinionated asshole that I am, My first question is, How can Tyketto even go on before Dangerous Toys, Roxy Blue, Tora Tora, AND Lillian Axe? Kickin’ Valentina I think should be closer to opener status as well but that’s not meant to be an insult. I’m just thinking more here from the standpoint of longevity/over all popularity in the genre. The first night could be interesting but I’m telling ya, that 2nd night is no fucking joke!!! This is going to be something I’m excited to take in without a doubt. This will be the first time Lillian Axe has been in Atlanta since, well, since a long fucking time. The last time Tora Tora was here was in ’92 for the Wild America tour, Roxy Blue opened for Babylon AD here in the 90’s, and the last time Dangerous Toys here was back around 1990 with Junkyard (who sadly had to back out soon after the announcement of the roster) at Center Stage, the very venue where I saw this now legendary show.
This festival has a lot of potential and I can really see this thing growing wings and taking off. It’s about time a festival for this genre was organized and I’m pumped as all fuck that it’s taking place right here in Atlanta, GA. Shit, and we won’t even have to deal with Glen Hareveston’s annoying videos or Mike Portnoy so that right there is worth the price of everything.
