It has been decided that after 12 years, 4 albums, and hundreds of shows that I will no longer be playing bass for Powerglove. You may see me back with them one day, but as of now, the future is uncertain. This is of course very hard for me. I loved PG and our fans with all of my heart. In the meantime, I will be focusing on my health and figuring out what my next role in the music industry will be.

I’ve always been a goofy, whimsical person with a love for metal and video games. In 1995, I remember running into my parents room everyday at 6am, blasting the Mortal Kombat theme in my underpants while doing spin kicks. Powerglove allowed me to genuinely express that part of myself. That was one of my favorite parts of being in the band.

For now, my last contribution to Powerglove will be my work on their new album “Continue?”. When the guys decide to release it, let me know what you think. I’ll leave my contact info below and If you want to leave me feedback, want to work on some music together, or just want to tell me to screw myself, feel free to contact me.

This won’t be the last time you hear from me. In the meantime, thank you all for being my friends. I have met so many incredible individuals over the last 12 years, and the honor of being able to entertain you is what I am going to miss the most.

I am very proud of the work that Chris, Bassil, Alex, and myself have accomplished over the past 12 years. When I’m 80 and I look down at the Zebediah tattoo on my leg, I’m going to have a hell of a lot of good memories.

Until next time my friends and LONG LIVE VG METAL!

-Nick Avila

Powerglove’s North American tour will still continue but it has not been announced if there will be a live replacement or if they will perform to bass tracks.  Either way, Nick’s presence will be missed on stage each and every night and I can only hope that Powerglove will honor and carry on the fun, insane spirit of Powerglove that Nick embodied for so many years.   We’ll miss the fuck out of you, Nick!
