I bet you thought I was gonna miss it didn’t ya? I know it’s the last day of the month but fuck it. It’s still January and better late than never right? Our first Farthead of the Month for 2017 is none other than Michelle Schrotz from the band Brave. As you know, I’m a huge fan of Brave and it just so happens that Michelle is a big of the Brainfart… as she should. My name is Michelle Schrotz. I’m a wife, mother, professional by day and rocker by night with my band BRAVE.

How did you discover the Great Southern Brainfart?
I believe you stumbled across us back in 2011. I think you were reviewing While Heaven Wept and discovered that 3 of us in WHW have another band BRAVE. You reviewed us and have been a huge supporter of us ever since (THANK YOU).

What’s your favorite thing about the Great Southern Brainfart?
Love your honesty and opening saying your perspective. You don’t say nice things all the time just to people please. Although sometimes really I fear for your safety. You need security when you go out!

How did you first get into heavy metal?
My brother and I used to watch MTV’s heavy metal half hour after school back in the day.

What are your Top 5 metal bands?
Hmmm, so hard to pick and I’m not sure these are technically true metal? IDK…but here goes: The Gathering (plus Anneke solo), System of a Down, Pantera, Slayer (are we still friends? LOL) and Anathema.

What is currently your favorite metal album?
Ok for real I could never pick just one…I have no idea. Any album by the above mentioned bands.

What is the least metal thing about you?
My love of pink sparkles…haha (but I’m not joking). Well let’s face it everything about me is basically not very metal.

If you could have dinner with any metal musician alive or dead, who would it be, what would you talk about, and what would you have?
I would love to chat with Anneke Van Giersbergen, she’s one of my all time favorite musicians. I’d love to take vocal lessons from her and ask her about her process for writing.

Judgement by Anathema.

What is your favorite metal t-shirt and why?
You know the Christian Mistress tee that I won from a giveaway you did is super soft, I really like that one (but in all honestly have never listened to them!). Also love my Anathema concert tee.

In your opinion, who is the worst metal band out there?
Oooh so hard for me to say something negative, I try to find the positive in everything. But I hear bad things about Watain and their nasty tour antics (and stinky lol) so I guess I’ll go with them.
