Eric’s Top Albums of 2018

Better late than never, our writer Eric decided to chime in with his top albums of 2018!

Eric’s 2018 Top 10 albums

I’m sure everyone has been waiting for my top 10 for 2018, so here it is:

10. Corrosion of Conformity – No Crosses , No Crown
Pepper Keenen returns to the legendary NC band and they release an album true to their form. Its nothing new nor innovative from them, but it’s great. Its what COC fans want and have come to appreciate from them. Glad to see they are coming back in 2019 to continue to support it.

9: Cauldron – New Gods
Great release from these guys. Again another album where they didn’t deviate from what they do well. Its got all the metal from Canada you can handle!

=====================================================

8: Judas Priest – FIREPOWER
Rob Halford returns with one the best releases from the band in many years. No Surrender and and Rising from Ruins are ,my favorites off the album, but all the tracks are awesome and they are so great live.

=====================================================

7: Skeletonwitch – Devouring Radiant Light
This is the first full length release since the departure of vocalist Chance Garnett. The band has taking more of death metal approach with this release from their more traditional Black and Roll style. It’s a darker Skeletonwitch than before and I like it!

=====================================================

6: Destroyer 666 – Call of the Wild EP
I wish this had been an entire album! The title track is amazing and just leaves you wanting more. They get better with every release.

=====================================================

5: Ghostly White – Deceased
This album is thrashing monster! Deceased stole the show at Mass Destruction Metal Fest I , and did not disappoint with this release.

=====================================================

4: Immortal – Northern Chaos Gods
Such a great album. Demonaz and Horgh show that they do not need Abbath to keep the flames of Immortal lit. Gates of Blashyrkh and Mighty Ravendark are some of the highlights for me.

=====================================================

3: Behemoth – I Loved You at Your Darkest
This album is one of the most accessible releases from Behemoth in my opinion. While I enjoy a good metal opus, these track are to the point and brutal. Ecc;esia Diabolica Catholica, Dog=God, and Bartzabel are my favorites.

=====================================================

2: Ghost – Prequelle
I know everyone is shocked that this isn’t number 1, but it just isn’t. It’s a great album, but it’s not my favorite. Tobias took some chances, and steered the band in a new direction and it works. I love Life Eternal and Faith, but honestly, there isn’t a bad track on the album.

=====================================================

1: Tribulation – Down Below
Amazing follow up to Children of the Night, which is hard to top that classic. This occult/ black metal band continues to grow musically and are an amazing act to catch live.Lady Death, Lacrimosa and Cries from the Underworld are must listen to tracks. Thanks for the great album!!
