One of the perks of what I do is getting to hear a lot of bands for the first time. \u00a0Every now and then a band presents itself to me as a diamond in the rough and that is the case with Denmark\u2019s Anubis Gate. \u00a0Anubis Gate has just released their latest self-titled album and first for Nightmare Records and upon first listen to the opening track \u201cHold Back Tomorrow\u201d I was completely captivated and drawn in. \u00a0Lead vocalist\/bassist Henrik Fevere has a very powerful yet clear and organic voice that evokes a lot of passion and emotion which comes through loud and clear on \u201cWorld In A Dome.\u201d \u00a0If Dream Theater ever needs to replace James LaBrie, I would honestly have to say that Fevre would be a prime candidate for this position. \u00a0Each song is executed with such passion and precision that it manages to break the mold of the sometimes robotic and stiff sound of progressive metal. \u00a0The songs all have a feel to them that at times even gave me goosebumps because the hooks were so catchy and melodic. \u00a0When the listener can \u201cfeel\u201d the music that they are hearing, that\u2019s when you know you have found a real gem.<\/p>\n

The songs on \u201cAnubis Gate\u201d \u00a0are amazingly orchestrated, executed flawlessly and extremely well written. \u00a0The progressive metal genre is already over saturated as it is and after a while all the bands just start to run together. \u00a0Anubis Gate seems to have that element that makes them stand out and capture my attention. \u00a0I personally find Anubis Gate to be one of more accessible, melodic and easy on the ears progressive metal bands I\u2019ve heard in a long time. \u00a0It\u2019s the kind of of album where once you\u2019ve finished listening to it, you actually want to listen to it again. \u00a0Too often I hear an album and say, \u201cThat was a good album\u201d and then I forget about it. \u00a0\u201cAnubis Gate\u201d has ingrained itself in my mind and truly outstanding album that is worthy of multiple listens. \u00a0It\u2019s albums like this that make me happy and excited to be a fan of this genre of music.<\/p>\n
