""When tickets went on sale for this show at the Omni, my friends and I were destined to get the best seats we could get. There were four of us and one of us drew the coveted “X” ticket in the lottery. This means that the “X” got to enter ahead of the line and get first pick at tickets. What we ended up with was 4 FRONT FUCKING ROW tickets. Don’t believe me, just look at the stub chump. We were so stoked to be seeing Kiss for what we all (and many others) felt was their greatest album in many years. Rumor also had it that this show was going to be bigger and badder than “Hot In The Shade.” This couldn’t have pumped us up any more and we were ready!

First off, this has to be one of the lamest bills to look at on paper. I mean, we all know that Kiss kicks ass but Great White AND Trixter in 1992? Yeah, it was as lame as it sounds. First off, what can you say about Trixter other than the fact that they were laughable and totally forgettable. My friends and I just stood there in awe at how bad these guys sucked. They were so lame that the guitarist threw pick, it landed on the floor and nobody went for it so I picked it up. I figured it made him feel good. After their shitty forgettable set, bring on yet another band to play an uninspired forgettable set. It’s sad because I was a Great White fan before this and even saw them do some great shows but this time, they were just terrible. Matter of fact, one of my buddies and I went out to check out shirts and merch we were so bored.

When the house lights went down for Kiss, the place was electrified! The screaming, roaring crowd was so stoked and as the curtain dropped to show this huge ass stage set, we lost it as Kiss opened with “Creatures of the Night.” I remember thinking that they sounded so fucking good and for the first time since the makeup days, they looked like a bunch of bad motherfuckers. The set list was full of killer songs and even the songs from “Revenge” like “Domino” and “Unholy” sounded kick ass. We were pressed against the barricade as we just rocked out with Kiss song after song but it was during “God of Thunder” that the most awesome thing would happen. I was leaning over the barricade singing the lyrics back to Gene and he was watching me as I sang along with him. After the song was over, he motioned for me to lean up to the stage and when I did, he stuck his guitar pick to my forehead. Goddamn I was freaking out! I still have that pick to this day along with a Bruce Kulick pick. I also remember being really psyched that they played “I Want You” and “Parasite.”

Kiss was really pulling out all the stops musically and visually as well. The stage was fucking huge and looked like an apocalyptic New York City complete with bust of the Statue of Liberty and trashed streets. It was so awesome and at the end of “Black Diamond” the statue crumbled to expose a skeleton and the hand’s middle finger raised as high in the air to a thunderous roar. What an amazing show this was yet it was sad that this was one of the Kiss’ more poorly attended shows. Leave it to Kiss fans to flock to see them on the Crazy Nights tour yet abandon them at the top of their game. I’m so glad it was captured and then released as part of the Kissology DVD set and I’m glad I got to witness it in first hand. I wanted the best that night and I fucking god it! It was even worth sitting through Trixter and Great White.
