{"id":20892,"date":"2024-10-08T18:11:38","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T22:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=20892"},"modified":"2024-12-19T09:46:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T14:46:00","slug":"iron-maiden-kicks-off-north-american-tour-and-already-seems-tired","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=20892","title":{"rendered":"Iron Maiden Kicks Off North American Tour and Already Seems Tired"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I fucking LOVE Iron Maiden.\u00a0 I always have and I always will.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been a fan since 1984 and I would die on just about any hill but in all honesty, I can see it in them and even in their setlists that they are getting tired.\u00a0 Iron Maiden is doing what they do best by playing live and they&#8217;ve been doing so barely stopping to take a breath over the last decade or so.\u00a0 I love love that they&#8217;re still at it but it can see them aging.\u00a0 In watching the footage, Steve Harris isn&#8217;t moving like he used to,\u00a0\u00a0 Nick McBrain sounds great after his stroke but even then he&#8217;s had to simplify some of his playing.\u00a0 With that being said, it&#8217;s Iron Fucking Maiden and they still sound better than all their peers. Bruce is still Bruce but even he looks like he&#8217;s losing just a little bit of steam and his voice is straining a bit.\u00a0 I have thought that over the past decade or so that tuning down a full step would be perfect for Bruce to get that range back into his voice on these songs.\u00a0 It worked for Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, and many others.\u00a0 Why would you have the greatest vocalist of all time struggling to hit notes?<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Iron Maiden &quot;Caught Somewhere In Time&quot; live, San Diego, 2024.\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SjQcOihDHnM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The setlist was made of 15 songs featuring five songs from Somewhere in Time with the only real &#8220;surprise&#8221; of sorts being &#8220;Alexander the Great.&#8221;\u00a0 This is the first time since the Blaze Bayley era that I felt this lack of excitement for a setlist.<\/p>\n<p>01. <b>Caught Somewhere In Time<\/b><br \/>\n02. <b>Stranger In A Strange Land<\/b><br \/>\n03. <b>The Writing On The Wall<\/b><br \/>\n04. <b>Days Of Future Past<\/b><br \/>\n05. <b>The Time Machine<\/b><br \/>\n06. <b>The Prisoner<\/b><br \/>\n07. <b>Death Of The Celts<\/b><br \/>\n08. <b>Can I Play With Madness<\/b><br \/>\n09. <b>Heaven Can Wait<\/b><br \/>\n10. <b>Alexander The Great<\/b><br \/>\n11. <b>Fear Of The Dark<\/b><br \/>\n12. <b>Iron Maiden<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Encore:<\/p>\n<p>13. <b>Hell On Earth<\/b><br \/>\n14. <b>The Trooper<\/b><br \/>\n15. <b>Wasted Years<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An Iron Maiden show is definitely better than no Iron Maiden show but this footage and setlist are making me less excited than I was before about seeing them.\u00a0 They also announced that in 2025 they will be embarking on the Run For Your Lives tour which will, once again, be a legacy tour of sorts this time covering from the debut Iron Maiden album to 1992&#8217;s Fear of the Dark album.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure it will once again be a predictable setlist with maybe one or two (at the most) &#8220;wow&#8221; moments but I&#8217;m pretty sure that it&#8217;ll be nothing out of the ordinary.\u00a0 Bruce did say about the tour, \u201c<em>Next year is a very special one for IRON MAIDEN and we\u2019re going to be giving our fans a once-in-a-lifetime live experience. This is a tour that\u2019s gonna put a smile on your face and a cheer in your throat. If you\u2019ve seen us before, then get ready to take that experience to a whole new level. If you\u2019ve never seen us before, then what the hell have you been waiting for? Now\u2019s your chance to find out what you\u2019ve been missing!
