{"id":18529,"date":"2019-07-26T11:34:30","date_gmt":"2019-07-26T15:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastofheaven.com\/?p=18529"},"modified":"2022-01-06T19:48:21","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T00:48:21","slug":"album-review-book-of-wyrms-remythologizer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=18529","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: Book of Wyrms &#8211; Remythologizer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Book of Wyrms &#8211; Remythologizer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Release Date: August 23, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Richmond, Virginia\u2019s Book of Wyrms is set to release their sophomore release, <em>Remythologizer<\/em> which will be out this summer via Twin Earth Records.\u00a0 Normally when I hear a band who compares them to Hawkwind and Uriah Heep, I roll my eyes all the while knowing that I\u2019m either going to be bored to tears or pleasantly surprised.\u00a0 In the case of Book of Wyrms, it was literally audio Ambien.<\/p>\n<p>I actually had to drink two cups of coffee to make it through this lifeless platter of music.\u00a0 The album\u2019s first two songs (\u201cAutumnal Snow\u201d and \u201cBlacklight Warpries\u201d respectively) were so dull and similar that by the middle of \u201cBlacklight Warpriest\u201d I literally thought this was one long fucking song.\u00a0 \u201cUndead Pegasus\u201d is this weird upbeat song that sounds like they just learned how to play their instruments.<\/p>\n<p>The lead-off single for <em>Remythologizer<\/em>, \u201cSpirit Drifter\u201d basically sounds as if they took Electric Citizen and Ruby the Hatchet and instead of sugar they added Sweet N\u2019 Low.\u00a0 It sounds so homogenized and unoriginal.\u00a0 Vocalist Sarah Moore-Lindsey\u2019s vocals have all of the life and passion of a doorknob singing over uninspired and predictable doomy guitar playing and generic rhythms.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Book of Wyrms is just another band that will end up in the \u201cdoom bin\u201d of bands that all sound the same.\u00a0 There is absolutely nothing original about this band.\u00a0 Lifeless vocals, lifeless music, and lifeless performances of songs that are less than mediocre.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that there is an audience for this and I\u2019m sure they will love it but I am not a part of that audience in the least.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"BOOK OF WYRMS - Spirit Drifter\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M7KhGGOasF8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Book of Wyrms &#8211; Remythologizer Release Date: August 23, 2019 Richmond, Virginia\u2019s Book of Wyrms is set to release their sophomore release, Remythologizer which will be out this summer via Twin Earth Records.\u00a0 Normally when I hear a band who compares them to Hawkwind and Uriah Heep, I roll my eyes all the while knowing that I\u2019m either going to be bored to tears or pleasantly surprised.\u00a0 In the case of Book of Wyrms, it was literally audio Ambien.
