{"id":18477,"date":"2019-06-12T17:23:05","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T21:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastofheaven.com\/?p=18477"},"modified":"2022-01-06T19:48:22","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T00:48:22","slug":"album-review-john-diva-the-rockets-of-love-mama-said-rock-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=18477","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: John Diva &#038; The Rockets of Love &#8211; Mama Said Rock is Dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Diva &amp; The Rockets of Love &#8211; Mama Said Rock is Dead<br \/>\nRelease Date: February 8, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Back in the \u201880s and \u201890s, there were plenty of horrible glam rock\/metal bands.\u00a0 Trixter, Nelson, Warrant, whatever.\u00a0 It was bad enough then so why would anyone think that shit this horrible has a place in this day and age?\u00a0 I know never to judge a book by its cover but when I saw the name John Diva &amp; The Rockets of Love, I couldn\u2019t help but facepalm myself, eat a couple of Tums and just prepare myself for what was to come.<\/p>\n<p>The opening song, \u201cWhiplash,\u201d kicked in and honestly, it sounded promising until homeslice opened his piehole and started singing.\u00a0 I immediately felt my heartburn kick in and literally laughed as the opening lyrics kicked in; \u201cWhiplash. Baskin.\u00a0 Welcome to the house of sin.\u201d\u00a0 Good fucking God.\u00a0 I mean, for real?\u00a0 Then you have the song \u201cLolita\u201d which boasts such brilliant lyrics such as \u201cLa la la la la Lolita.\u00a0 You\u2019re the queen of teenage drama.\u201d\u00a0 But wait, there\u2019s more.\u00a0 \u201cRock N\u2019 Roll Heaven\u201d has Mr. Diva stating that \u201cThere ain\u2019t no place for Rock N\u2019 Roll in hell.\u00a0 We all live forever in Rock N\u2019 Roll Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"JOHN DIVA &amp; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wait a minute.\u00a0 Earlier didn\u2019t welcome us to the house of sin?\u00a0 I feel so religiously confused at this point.\u00a0 I mean, are you dirty, skanky ass Poison or are you Stryper?\u00a0 Who writes this shit anyways?\u00a0 Apparently, John Diva himself is responsible for these fantastic works of art.\u00a0 With song titles such as \u201cLolita\u201d, \u201cRock N\u2019 Roll Heaven\u201d, \u201cDance Dirty\u201d, and \u201cLong Legs in Leggins\u201d, I felt like I was reading the track listing of a new Spinal Tap album.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong.\u00a0 I LOVE me some good ol\u2019 sleazy hard rock and roll.\u00a0 There are a lot of new bands that are doing this kind of shit really good.\u00a0 Denman, Kickin\u2019 Valentina, Crash Diet, and Hardcore Superstar are an example of bands doing it right.\u00a0 Their music comes from a real place.\u00a0 Yeah, it may be cheesy and tongue and cheek but it\u2019s sincere because it\u2019s pulling from their earlier glam metal influences.<\/p>\n<p>John Diva &amp; The Rockets of Love sound contrived and as fraudulent as you can get.\u00a0 They make Steel Panther look like fucking Judas Priest.\u00a0 Yes their that bad.\u00a0 Music lovers of any genre can spot a fake a mile away and honestly, I spotted it just by looking at the album cover and the track listing.\u00a0 John Diva\u2019s mama said rock is dead.\u00a0 It\u2019s not dead but it\u2019s shitty bands like this that just may injure glam metal pretty badly.\u00a0 John Diva, quit peeing in the pool, hombre.\u00a0 Get out, go home, and don\u2019t come back\u2026 PLEASE!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Diva &amp;
