The new SABATON<\/strong> History Channel<\/strong> has launched with an episode about one of the band\u2019s best-loved songs \u2013 the Polish anthem ’40:1′<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first episode, which tells the story of the Battle of Wizna in World War II, when a few hundred Polish soldiers stood against more than 40,000 German invaders, is available to view on the YouTube channel<\/strong><\/a> now.<\/p>\n

SABATON<\/strong> History<\/strong> is a unique collaboration between the band themselves and multimedia historians Indy Neidell<\/strong> and Timeghost<\/strong>, capturing the power of social media to tell the stories behind SABATON<\/strong>\u2019s songs.<\/p>\n

Music and history fans have been talking about the channel ever since it was first trailed on January 8th, and more than 30,000 advance subscribers were ready and waiting for the first episode.<\/p>\n

Bass player P\u00e4r Sundstr\u00f6m<\/strong>, who co-presents the episode, explained why ’40:1′<\/strong> was chosen first: \u201cNot only is this one of our most popular songs, the chorus actually starts with the line \u2018baptised in fire\u2019. Nobody in the world of metal has ever done a project like this before, so we knew this was the right choice for our own baptism of fire!<\/em>
\nA lot of people tell us this was the song that got them listening to <\/em>SABATON<\/strong>, and it\u2019s been a regular part of our live show for over 10 years, so we\u2019re sure subscribers will enjoy the story behind it.<\/em>
\nFilming has been amazing and the episodes will be fun to watch, but the history team also take their research very seriously and we think even we will learn something from SABATON<\/strong> History<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A new episode will air at 9:30am Eastern every Thursday, telling the true-life stories behind every SABATON<\/strong> song \u2013 including those from the highly-anticipated new album \u2013 meaning the channel is committed to run for the next year and beyond.<\/p>\n

Each story is researched by historians, who will use exclusive footage from the PA archives, original graphics, and of course SABATON<\/strong> music, to bring it to life in a fast-paced 15-minute episode.<\/p>\n

Every week they will be joined in the specially-designed studio by a member of SABATON<\/strong>, who will share the band\u2019s own stories about the song, including insights into the writing process and tales from the recording studio.<\/p>\n

Channel presenter and writer Indy Neidell<\/strong>, the face of ambitious Youtube history projects The Great War, Between Two Wars, <\/em>and World War II, <\/em>said:
