You can still love someone, but not want to work with them.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.blabbermouth.net\/media\/steveperrypromophoto1oct2018_638.jpg\" alt=\"Ex-JOURNEY Singer STEVE PERRY Dismisses Idea Of New Collaboration With NEAL SCHON\"\/><figcaption> <br\/>Photo credit: <strong>Myriam Santos<\/strong> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steve Perry<\/strong> has told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/steve-perry-talks-comeback-album-traces-journey-dont-stop-believin-733144\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rolling Stone<\/a> that he can&#8217;t imagine working with <strong>Neal Schon<\/strong> in any capacity again or even re-establishing the friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong> singer, who originally left the band more than three decades ago, made his comments in response to <strong>Neal<\/strong>&#8216;s frequent public calls for a renewed collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not sure that&#8217;s possible without stirring up hopes of a reunion,&#8221; <strong>Perry<\/strong>\n said. &#8220;Please listen to me. I left the band 31 fucking years ago, my \nfriend. You can still love someone, but not want to work with them. And \nif they only love you because they want to work with you, that doesn&#8217;t \nfeel good to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iig-XR35qXw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steve<\/strong>, who claims to feel no bitterness toward anyone in <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong>, even though he&#8217;s seen the members only twice in the past 20 years, had &#8220;a look of disgust,&#8221; according to <strong>Rolling Stone<\/strong> writer <strong>Andy Greene<\/strong>, when he was asked about keyboardist <strong>Jonathan Cain<\/strong>&#8216;s new memoir, <strong>&#8220;Don&#8217;t Stop Believin'&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t really care to read <strong>Jonathan<\/strong>&#8216;s book,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I&#8217;d appreciate if you didn&#8217;t tell me about it. I don&#8217;t need to know. It&#8217;s none of my business.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This past summer, <strong>Schon<\/strong> told the <strong>Detroit Free Press<\/strong> that he would love to collaborate with <strong>Perry<\/strong> on an R&amp;B-style project. &#8220;I think <strong>Steve<\/strong> has an amazing, soulful voice, and I know he loves R&amp;B,&#8221; the guitarist said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;d ever want to do a <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong>\n record again. It&#8217;s just too hard. [The notes are] way, way up there, \nand last time I heard him sing, his voice was a lot lower. But it was \nstill very soulful. You can sing R&amp;B and soul music and not need \nfive octaves in your voice. [With <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong>], he set the bar so high for himself and for anyone else.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perry<\/strong> reunited with <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong> for the first time in years as they were inducted into the <strong>Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong>\n in April 2017. The iconic singer appeared onstage with his former \nbandmates as they each gave speeches, but did not perform with the group\n later in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his speech, <strong>Perry<\/strong> praised each of <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong> musicians as well as the band&#8217;s current singer, <strong>Arnel Pineda<\/strong>, who was not being inducted into the <strong>Rock Hall<\/strong>. &#8220;I must give a shoutout to a man who sings his heart out every night, <strong>Arnel Pineda<\/strong>,&#8221; <strong>Perry<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perry<\/strong>&#8216;s final full concert with <strong>JOURNEY<\/strong> took place in early 1987. He later rejoined his band mates for a brief performance in 1991 to honor late concert promoter <strong>Bill Graham<\/strong>.
