\"ImageThought provoking, funny, intelligent, outspoken, and honest are just a few words that I can use to describe Tony Foresta.\u00a0 Whether he\u2019s fronting Iron Reagan or thrash crossover veterans Municipal Waste, Tony always has something to say.\u00a0 Tony Foresta is someone that I never get tired of interviewing and every time it\u2019s like the first.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

On a busy press day promoting the return of Municipal Waste, Tony was awesome enough to talk with me about the return of Municipal Waste, their latest album Slime and Punishment<\/em>, and the band\u2019s now notorious and controversial Trump t-shirt\/backdrop.\u00a0 Tony, as always, had me rolling and it was so awesome to get to speak with him again.\u00a0 Dig on this one, y\u2019all.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tony, you must really love me as this is, I believe, our forth interview together.\u00a0 Should I have given you something like an edible arrangement or something?<\/strong><\/p>\n

[laughs] Yeah.\u00a0 This is like what?\u00a0 The 14th<\/sup> interview we\u2019ve done or something [laughs].<\/p>\n

So you guys are kicking it out on the West coast for some promo?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, we\u2019re hanging out in California just relaxing, doing interviews, and signing a bunch of stuff.\u00a0 We hung out at Venice Beach last night so that was really neat.<\/p>\n

Do you ever get tired of doing interviews?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, I mean you know [laughs].\u00a0 Nah, its part of the job and it\u2019s fun.\u00a0 You get to meet some interesting people [laughs].<\/p>\n

Municipal Waste is back after a pretty lengthy hiatus.\u00a0 Was it just time for a comeback?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, it just felt right.\u00a0 People have been harassing us about for a long time now [laughs].\u00a0 \u201cWhen the fuck are you going to put a record out?\u201d\u00a0 It just seemed like it was the right time and we finally finished writing something that we were all happy with.\u00a0 It\u2019s cool and we\u2019re really excited to get back out there and start playing some new songs.\u00a0 We get sick of playing those older ones so much [laughs].<\/p>\n

Was it the Trump presidency that brought you guys back out?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No [laughs].\u00a0 I could never give him credit for something that\u2019s actually interesting.\u00a0 We just haven\u2019t done an album in what, five years?\u00a0 It\u2019s so crazy.\u00a0 People really wanted it and we didn\u2019t want to let our fans down so we busted our butts, got an extra guitar player in the mix too.\u00a0 so it\u2019s the right time to strike.<\/p>\n

So with the addition of the new guy (Nick Poulos), is there a new feeling of excitement in doing this?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah.\u00a0 There\u2019s new blood in the band and everyone\u2019s hungry again.\u00a0 It\u2019s always fun and cool to tour with somebody who hasn\u2019t done certain things before.\u00a0 Its fun to see them excited about shit that you\u2019ve done a bunch of times that you almost take for granted.\u00a0 You say, \u201cOh yeah.\u00a0 This is really cool what we\u2019re doing.\u00a0 I forgot that I love this.\u00a0 This is exciting.\u201d [laughs]<\/p>\n

Now you also have someone to wash your underwear while on the road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh gross.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I go commando dawg.\u00a0 That\u2019s how I roll [laughs].<\/p>\n

I have to say, my mom saw my Trump Muni Waste shirt and said, \u201cDonald.\u00a0 That shirt is terrible but Trump is an asshole.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

[laughs] That\u2019s awesome.\u00a0 Yeah, it\u2019s a pretty vulgar shirt.\u00a0 I heard someone call it vulgar the other day.\u00a0 I thought that was pretty funny.<\/p>\n

I tweeted a photo of me wearing that shirt right after the election and someone told me that they were going to report me to the FBI or threatening the life of the president.<\/strong><\/p>\n

[laughs] That\u2019s brilliant.\u00a0 Please do.\u00a0 It\u2019s great press for us.<\/p>\n

That image just makes such a bold statement.\u00a0 Have you guys beefed up your security in fear of retaliation from the Alt Right?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No.\u00a0 I don\u2019t care.\u00a0 I like to fight so if you want throw hands about some bullshit, I\u2019ll do it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t give a shit [laughs].\u00a0 It gets people worked up and that was the point.\u00a0 Well, maybe we do need to beef up our security.\u00a0 I\u2019m not going to tell people [laughs].<\/p>\n

So has this vulgar image brought Municipal Waste some new fans?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh yeah.\u00a0 Definitely.\u00a0 It\u2019s funny.\u00a0 Somebody posted a picture of Whoopi Goldberg wearing that shirt.\u00a0 It was totally photoshopped but I don\u2019t care.\u00a0 I\u2019ll take whatever I can get.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen the dudes in Slayer wearing it.\u00a0 You\u2019d be surprised where it\u2019s gone.\u00a0 I like that.<\/p>\n

I just love that you guys are rattling the cages.\u00a0 Not enough bands are doing that these days.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I proudly stand against Trump.\u00a0 I don\u2019t give a shit if it\u2019s not patriotic.\u00a0 I love my country but I think our president\u2019s a piece of shit [laughs].\u00a0 I have a right to say that.<\/p>\n

So the new album is called Slime and Punishment<\/em>.\u00a0 Tell me about this masterpiece that is about to cum all over us.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

[laughs] Well, it took us a long time to write it but we really wanted to deliver a proper Waste album.\u00a0 I think it shows that the band\u2019s grown a lot but it still has that fast, fun, pissed off energy that we\u2019ve always put out.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited to get it out there.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been seeing the album cover today and singing posters with the artwork and it\u2019s got me really excited; to finally get the Waste back is a good thing.<\/p>\n

You were really busy with Iron Reagan while Municipal Waste was taking a bit of a break.\u00a0 Was the time away one of those \u201cabsence makes the heart grow fonder\u201d kind things?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, of course.\u00a0 I love both bands very much so I\u2019m going to work my hardest for both.\u00a0 We put our hearts into this new Waste album.\u00a0 It\u2019s fun to get back together with everyone again and it still feels fresh.\u00a0 I mean, we all hang out when we\u2019re at home and whatnot so it\u2019s cool.\u00a0 We\u2019re all like a weird family.<\/p>\n

Municipal Waste has some touring coming up right?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah.\u00a0 We\u2019re doing Punk Rock Bowling, we\u2019re playing a modified Ghostfest in Vancouver, and then we\u2019re doing Warped Tour and that\u2019s like two and a half months long.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to playing in the armpit of everywhere this summer [laughs].<\/p>\n

Will you guys do a headline run?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re already discussing what we\u2019re going to do after that but there\u2019s already a lot of stuff for us to do so we\u2019re all just piecing it out.<\/p>\n

Will you guys be rockin\u2019 the road in a tour bus or are you still living the van life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We like the van life but you pretty much have to have a bus on Warped Tour because you\u2019re in parking lots for like 14 hours a day.\u00a0 It\u2019s so fucking hot so it\u2019s kind of a necessity but normally we rock the vans.<\/p>\n

How long do you think you can do this before you\u2019re like, \u201cMy old body just can\u2019t take this anymore?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

What?\u00a0 This interview? [laughs]<\/p>\n

[laughs] I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got some time left.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking at all these dudes that are like 15 years older than me and I\u2019m like, \u201cHoly shit.\u00a0 They\u2019re still doing it.\u201d\u00a0 While we\u2019re talking, I\u2019m looking at this picture of Danzig painted like a skeleton and he\u2019s like 70.\u00a0 Hopefully I\u2019m not doing it that long but we\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s from his covers album I think.\u00a0 That album is one of the most awesomely terrible things I\u2019ve ever heard. \u00a0You\u2019ve got to hear his cover of \u201cRough Boy\u201d by ZZ Top.<\/strong><\/p>\n

[laughs]\u00a0 I just got it yesterday.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to hear it.\u00a0 I love Danzig but I know this is going to be weird.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to check it out.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your most disgusting junk food guilty pleasure while on tour?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m totally addicted to Sheetz or Wawa.\u00a0 Whenever there\u2019s one of those I make everyone stop.\u00a0 Whatever food those places are selling [laughs].\u00a0 I just love it.<\/p>\n

You must have a cast iron stomach after all these years on the road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yeah, it\u2019s from all the hot sauce.\u00a0 My stomach is just used to punishment.\u00a0 Whiskey and hot sauce every day.<\/p>\n

What is the least metal thing about you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I play volleyball every Wednesday when I\u2019m home [laughs].\u00a0 It\u2019s really fun.\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty good actually.\u00a0 It\u2019s like beach volleyball so I can hurt myself and not get hurt really bad [laughs].\u00a0 That\u2019s pretty not metal.<\/p>\n

What app\/game do you play while taking a dump?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t really fuck with apps honestly.\u00a0 I\u2019m usually just responding to e-mails [laughs].\u00a0 I used to play The Simpson\u2019s Tapped Out.\u00a0 I was just thinking about that the other day.\u00a0 It just never went anywhere.\u00a0 It was really popular like a year or two ago.\u00a0 You just get stuff but you don\u2019t really win or anything.\u00a0 It was really strange [laughs].<\/p>\n
