Two of the most underrated – but widely respected – heavy metal releases of the late \u201880s were undoubtedly the first pair of albums by New Orleans-based hard rock outfit, Lillian Axe – 1988\u2019s self-titled debut and 1989\u2019s \u2018Love + War.\u2019 And on May 12th<\/sup>, both will be reissued as \u201cspecial deluxe collector\u2019s editions\u201d via Rock Candy Records – complete with multi-page booklets, essays, and fully remastered audio, shaped from 24 BIT digital technology.<\/div>\n

The band – which been led since their inception by guitarist Steve Blaze – caught the attention of metalheads during an era when bands like Ratt ruled the MTV\/radio airwaves. And it just so happened that Ratt\u2019s manager at the time, Marshall Berle, crossed paths with the band, and helped broker a recording deal with MCA Records, and in turn, enlisted Ratt\u2019s late guitarist, Robbin Crosby, to produce the group\u2019s debut album – spawning such standout tracks as \u201cDream of a Lifetime,\u201d \u201cVision in the Night, \u201cand \u201cThe More That You Get.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lillian Axe came back even stronger with their sophomore set, \u2018Love + War,\u2019 with Tony Platt (who had previously worked with the likes of AC\/DC, Def Leppard, and Krokus) serving as producer – which resulted in such rocking tunes as \u201cThe World Stopped Turning,\u201d \u201cShow a Little Love,\u201d and \u201cShe Likes It on Top.\u201d<\/div>\n

Soon, rock fans will get the opportunity to rediscover both \u2018Lillian Axe\u2019 and \u2018Love + War,\u2019 thanks to the good folks at Rock Candy.<\/div>\n
