{"id":16914,"date":"2017-02-27T01:00:21","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T06:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16914"},"modified":"2022-01-06T19:49:49","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T00:49:49","slug":"album-review-paladin-2017-demo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16914","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: Paladin (2017 Demo)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Paladin \u2013 2017 Demo<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Release Date:<\/strong> February 17, 2017<br \/>\n<strong>Label<\/strong>: Independent<\/p>\n<p>Finally, from Atlanta, GA comes a metal band that doesn\u2019t have me rolling my eyes or send me running for the fucking door.\u00a0 Ok, that\u2019s not totally fair as there are a handful of local metal bands that I dig in Atlanta but in a town overrun by screaming, growling, death metal it\u2019s so fucking refreshing to hear a band like Paladin.\u00a0 Paladin plays a very old school sounding kind of thrash infused heavy metal that crosses into the realm of death metal by just a hair.\u00a0 This kind of sound makes it remarkably interesting for someone like me who hates death metal because it never takes it all the way across the border.\u00a0 It\u2019s like they dip into it just enough to whet your pallet and give you a taste.<\/p>\n<p>I know this doesn\u2019t make much sense but if you listen to Paladin\u2019s debut two song EP&#8217;s first song \u201cBury the Light\u201d it will.\u00a0 Musically, Paladin seems to channel a 3 Inches of Blood kind of sound being that it\u2019s a somewhat modern sound channeling the thrash gods of old.\u00a0 Vocally, lead singer\/guitarist Taylor Washington reminds me of Jeff Walker of Carcass when delivering the harsh vocals but then all of the sudden with switch right into a clean vocal styling that takes things over the top.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: 0;
