{"id":16838,"date":"2017-02-03T01:00:47","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T06:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16838"},"modified":"2022-01-06T19:49:50","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T00:49:50","slug":"album-review-dool-here-then-there-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16838","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: Dool \u2013 Here Now, There Then"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dool \u2013 Here Now, There Then<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve said it before and I\u2019ve said it again.\u00a0 There is nothing I love more than when a band comes my way that piques my interest, captivates me, and intrigues me.\u00a0 Lead by lead singer\/guitarist Ryanne van Dorst and former Devil\u2019s Blood members Micha Haring on drums and Job van de Zande on bass, Dool has created an ethereal, mystical, and at times sensual soundscape with their debut album Here Then, There Now.<\/p>\n<p>In listening to the lead-off single \u201cOweynagat\u201d, I can definitely hear the spirit and the vibe that The Devil\u2019s Blood did so well.\u00a0 While Dool captures that same vibe and mood and while van Dorst even captures the sensuality and depth of Farida Lemuchi, they are far from being a mere Devil\u2019s Blood off shoot.\u00a0 Songs like \u201cDeath of Love\u201d, \u201cWords of Paper\u201d, and \u201cThe Alpha\u201d are great representations of a band that is earnestly making their own mark on the face of a genre of music that at times seems to have grown overblown and tired.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wIMu_Wui2f0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Van Dorst\u2019s mysterious and intriguing persona shine through in these performances and I found myself absolutely captivated.\u00a0 Lyrically the songs are poetic, dark, strong, gentle, aggressive, and just about any other mood you can conjure up.\u00a0 Dool\u2019s music is so perfectly matched with the lyrical content that it creates a sort of narrative that drew me in and had me hanging on every note, every word, and every change of mood.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be honest.\u00a0 I generally hate writing album reviews because sometimes I just find myself searching for the words to express my feelings about a particular album.\u00a0 It\u2019s the truly remarkable albums that seem to have reviews that pretty much write themselves.\u00a0 Dool is without a doubt a band that I will be keeping my eyes and ears open for in 2017 and beyond.\u00a0 If this debut is any indication of what they are capable of, I\u2019m already looking forward to the future with this band.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For more on Dool, check them out at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/allthosewhowanderaredool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/allthosewhowanderaredool<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dool \u2013 Here Now, There Then I\u2019ve said it before and I\u2019ve said it again.\u00a0 There is nothing I love more than when a band comes my way that piques my interest, captivates me, and intrigues me.\u00a0 Lead by lead singer\/guitarist Ryanne van Dorst and former Devil\u2019s Blood members Micha Haring on drums and Job van de Zande on bass, Dool has created an ethereal, mystical, and at times sensual soundscape with their debut album Here Then, There Now.
