{"id":16607,"date":"2016-10-12T01:00:22","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T05:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16607"},"modified":"2022-01-06T19:50:12","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T00:50:12","slug":"album-review-crobot-welcome-to-fat-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southeastofheaven.com\/?p=16607","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: Crobot &#8211; Welcome to Fat City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Crobot \u2013 Welcome to Fat City<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Release Date: September 23, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back in 2012, I received an email from a fledgling band out of Pennsylvania asking me to give their debut album a listen.\u00a0 When I told them how much I loved the album, they said, \u201cWe&#8217;re incredibly happy that you dig our tunes! We all think that your musical taste is bar-none! \u00a0This is a huge compliment for us; so, thanks again!\u201d\u00a0 That band was Crobot.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to believe that this was just a mere four years ago because this band has grown by leaps and bounds since.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Crobot returns to the game with Welcome to Fat City and let me just say that this is hands down Crobot\u2019s greatest work to date.\u00a0 The title track kicks things off with what I consider to be a signature sound that is all Crobot\u2019s own.\u00a0 I guess you could call it dirty faced beard rock but whatever you want to call it, one thing you can\u2019t call it is weak.\u00a0 That signature sound bleeds over into songs such as \u201cPlay It Cool\u201d, \u201cEasy Money\u201d, and \u201cNot for Sale\u201d but the band sidesteps into a darker realm with \u201cHold On for Dear Life\u201d and the absolutely stellar \u201cMoment of Truth.\u201d\u00a0 This song is the showstopper in my opinion.\u00a0 It sounds like a fine mix of Mother Love Bone meets Black Sabbath and it has the band really showcasing an exercise in versatility.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VVW9YP4MKGI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>Welcome to Fat City is a bold album that is incredibly strong that stands above the pack and shows that Crobot is a band that continues to evolve musically and lyrically.\u00a0 This is without a doubt an album that has rightfully received numerous spins from me and even had me sticking my chest out with pride.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing more exciting than watching a band grow up right before your very eyes and ears into a force to be reckoned with.\u00a0 Crobot is a band whose best years lie ahead of them as we are only seeing a smidgen of what this band is capable of.\u00a0 Welcome to Fat City is an unstoppable force that has made a huge ass stain in the tighty whities of hard rock music.\u00a0 Yes, that\u2019s a compliment.<\/p>\n<p>For more on Crobot and to buy &#8220;Welcome to Fat City&#8221;, head over to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crobotband.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.crobotband.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crobot \u2013 Welcome to Fat City Release Date: September 23, 2016 Back in 2012, I received an email from a fledgling band out of Pennsylvania asking me to give their debut album a listen.\u00a0 When I told them how much I loved the album, they said, \u201cWe&#8217;re incredibly happy that you dig our tunes!
