\"pink-floyd-dark-side-moon--large-msg-134577280838\"<\/a>Some people consider hitting \u201c40\u201d to be the beginning of the end. Most even refer to it as being \u201cover the hill.\u201d 40 years ago this year, Pink Floyd released what most would consider one of the single greatest albums of all time: Dark Side of the Moon. If you\u2019re reading this, chances are you own Dark Side of the Moon or at least owned it at one time. It\u2019s a timeless album that was truly lightning captured in a bottle. This year, Dark Side of the Moon and I both turn 40 years old. In some ways I guess you could say that we grew up together and since 1988 (when we were both only 15 years old) have been through ups and downs.<\/p>\n

I first heard Dark Side of the Moon back in 1988 when I was in 9th grade. I had heard Pink Floyd songs on the radio and was familiar with the \u201chits\u201d like \u201cAnother Brick In the Wall\u201d, \u201cComfortably Numb\u201d, and even their more current (at the time) hits like \u201cLearning to Fly\u201d and \u201cDogs of War.\u201d One day while listening to the radio I heard the song \u201cTime\u201d and for some odd reason it just struck a chord with me. \u201cTicking away the moments that make up a dull day\u201d just seemed to be a line that resonated with me for some reason. I found myself picking up the album and what I heard was much more than an album full of songs. It was a new friend. It was a new life companion that would see me through many ups and downs. Dark Side of the Moon was a listening experience that was more intense than anything this young 14 year old had ever experienced and let me tell you\u2026 I couldn\u2019t get enough of it.<\/p>\n
