In what I consider to be extremely sad news, it looks as if The Devil\u2019s Blood<\/strong><\/a> has joined an unfortunate growing list of my favorite bands calling it quits.\u00a0 <\/span>On Friday morning, The Devil\u2019s Blood posted this via their official Facebook page:<\/p>\n

As of the 22nd of January 2013 The Devil\u00b4s Blood has returned into nothingness.<\/strong><\/em>
\n All planned Rituals will be cancelled.<\/strong><\/em>
\n No interviews will be done.<\/strong><\/em>
\n Consummatum est.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Devil\u2019s Blood \u2013 2007 \/ 2013<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

This website and the Facebook page will remain on-line. So any imminent development regarding the legacy of The Devil\u2019s Blood will be announced there and nowhere else. The web store will remain open until further notice.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

After a short but extremely productive 5 years, it looks like the Devil\u2019s Blood has called it a day.\u00a0 <\/span>While I am so bummed about this, I cannot say that I\u2019m too surprised.\u00a0 <\/span>First off, songwriter\/guitarist Selim Lemouchi is one crazy motherfucker.\u00a0 <\/span>Like most amazingly talented artists, he always seemed a bit off his rocker a bit.\u00a0 <\/span>He\u2019s a totally intense individual who takes his spiritual believes extremely serious.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Selim is like the polar opposite of Stryper.\u00a0 <\/span>Everything he does as an artist is a dedication to his spiritual believe.\u00a0 <\/span>In all honesty, I have to give him credit for his passion for his beliefs.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not for me but for the same reason I can respect an act like Stryper, I think it\u2019s a pretty powerful thing to use music as a channel for your spirituality.<\/p>\n

I also know that, like any great band in history with siblings, there was always a sense of tension between Selim and his lead vocalist sister Farida Lemouchi who actually referred to herself as \u201cThe Mouth of Satan.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Yeah, I know.\u00a0 <\/span>Pretty intense stuff but why call it quits?\u00a0 <\/span>Maybe Selim felt that he had done all he could do.\u00a0 <\/span>Maybe he will go back to being a member of black metal masters Watain (whose song \u201cThe Devil\u2019s Blood\u201d inspired Selim to name his band.).\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whatever the reasons for their split, we may never know.\u00a0 <\/span>The Devil\u2019s Blood was a band that intrigued me like no other.\u00a0 <\/span>They were a band shrouded in mystery and did very little press choosing to live solely through their music and live performances.\u00a0 <\/span>The Devil\u2019s Blood leave behind a legacy of three brilliant releases (Come Reep EP, The Time of No Time Evermore, The Thousandfold Epicentre) that I found to be some of the most fascinating material I have ever listened to.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m glad I had the opportunity to see them live at least once.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The Devil\u2019s Blood: Another band gone way too soon.\u00a0 <\/span>Best of luck to Selim, Farida, and everyone else involved with The Devil\u2019s Blood.\u00a0 <\/span>Thanks for the timeless music that I will enjoy for many years to come.<\/p>\n
